Alvin Clay has worked in financial services for over 30 years and is Managing Partner of Alvin Clay Financial Advisors, LLC in Jenkintown, PA, an independent, fee-only Registered Investment Adviser. Prior to starting his own business, he was CEO of Davidson Trust Company, and of Pitcairn Trust Company. In his new business, Alvin is returning to the role he most enjoyed in his career, by personally providing holistic financial advice to his individual and charitable clients.
The new company operates under the motto of “Integrity, Expertise, Wisdom.” It all starts with integrity. The adviser must be a true fiduciary and only act in the client’s best interest. But as important as integrity is, it still must be backed up with expertise. (It’s of little value to entrust one’s financial life to a trustworthy person without knowledge, experience, or credentials.) Wisdom, of course, is an aspiration. It comes over time and teaches us that not all answers come from a spreadsheet or computer model. Each client is different.
Alvin is a Permanent Deacon for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, ordained in 2002, and serves at Immaculate Conception Church in Jenkintown, and the Cathedral of SS Peter and Paul in Philadelphia.
Alvin earned a BS in Accounting and a Master of Taxation degree from Villanova University and is a CPA and a CFP. He has served on the Villanova School of Business adjunct faculty and is the author of a professional reference manual on partnership taxation. He has also published a series of columns for The Philadelphia Inquirer on the subject of Business Ethics. He is a frequent speaker on the taxation of investments, and other matters affecting wealth management for individuals and trusts, as well as business ethics.
Deacon Clay is one of ten children of Alvin (dec’d) and Nancy Clay of Springfield, PA. He and his wife Kathleen have seven children and five grandchildren and reside in Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania.
